FALL-IFIED AREAS :)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2013

Today is the last day of September!

here

This month flew by so quickly and rightfully so.
Aside from all the daily stuff,
  I was finishing my son's room (Post that soon);
rearranging our bedroom and making room for the crib at some point
(that'll get a redo too!);
working on some living room changes (someday I'll show you that);
making Fall changes in our common areas :) (That's today's post);
and
the most important one on my list;
 praying for our baby,
the name,
 and finally revealing both to our families and friends after knowing for a while.
I'll share that soon too.

ps...did I mention we were "harassed" relentlessly about that too lol
sheesh people

SIMPLE FALL DECOR-my front porch

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2013

I'm excited people,
the mornings are getting colder
and the evenings are chilly!
Now, if only the afternoons would hurry up and catch up with my fave season,
I'd really be giddy.

As promised, here's a look at my front porch
and the simple/cheap fixes I made.

By no means am I saying this is the most marvelous,
eye catching, super cute porch haha
JUST some simple and inexpensive additions for those of us
who don't have a decor fund.
If only ;)

*The simple how-to's will be at the end.

I LOVE FALL WREATH- using Dollar Tree items

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2013

FALL IS HERE!!!!

Ok officially but not visibly, at least in California.
I want colder weather, all day;
sweaters, boots;
leaves changing color;
hot chocolate;
homemade soup;
you know, the works.

We did have some crazy storm go through though,
on the LAST day of summer 9.21.13,
but that was about it.
Since then we've just enjoyed brisk mornings
which then become warm afternoons :(

Knowing Autumn was literally days away,
I got my stuff together to start crafting/decor'ing away!

It helps since there's no other signs of Fall.

50'S FOLDING CHAIR REDO & AGED PILLOWS- RACING ROOM REDO'S #4&5

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

This is racing room redo #4 & #5(at the end),
but technically the 3rd in the typewriter cart/desk redo.

I had intended to paint the chairs
and
reupholster with the checkered flag material left over from my son's 9th birthday party.

After taking them apart,

 fell in love with the little hidden treasures underneath!

Redo #4
metal chair, chair redo, rusted chair
BEFORE/AFTER
They had some great wear, rust & industrial-ness to them!

We had purchased these chairs MANY, MANY,  years ago from a thrift store.
We got 6 and loved how easily they stored when not in use.
The seat lifts up and the legs fold in to each other!

INDUSTRIAL TYPEWRITER CART to RUSTED DESK: PT 2

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2013

As promised, part 2 to the cart/desk makeover.
Chair post will follow soon.

This was a much a quicker redo on the desk as:
1. I had very little to do with it lol
2. Hubby did the majority of the work.
So I get some a tiny bit of the credit for this little addition ;)

I'm excited to share the desk redo

There's lots of photos,
3 looks,
 different steps to achieve them
and an addition to it.
 So, I'm breaking it down into 2 posts
with a 3rd one following for the chairs.

BELT FIX & ADDING SOME EXTRA HOLES

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2013

I'm feeling a little run down.
So much that I don't have the energy to post my real redo's hahaha.

So here's a quick one.

I had 2 belts, 1 thrifted months ago which had gotten slightly ruined
and a second which I recently got at the flea market, but too big.

I purposely got a larger size as I'd like to keep using it during the pregnancy.

2 THRIFTED TOPS= 1 TUNIC

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2013

Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday's are nice for us,
the kids have late start, which means 1 hr 25min later than usual.
We all get to sleep in a tad more and that's always a bonus :)

I've been busy with home projects, sewing and finishing up my son's room.
I guess more so now because the kids are at school and I'm in sprint mode
before the baby comes.
I can't wait to share those soon.

Today I'll be showing you the redo on the tunic I made last week,
 using 2 previously thrifted items.

(other outfits here)

The first "top" is technically the top of a very short dress I took apart months ago.
At the time I used the bottom as a skirt and fitted it to my size.
I'm SO thankful I held on to the tank portion of it.

The second top was thrifted a ways back when I did all my RETRO FIT FEBRUARY redo's
and never used it: $0.99

SUMMER 2013- AUGUST

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2013

Happy Sunday everyone!

here
My kids have a love-hate DISLIKE Immensely,
 relationship with Sundays.

They love seeing their friends at kids church, playing, eating snacks
and doing the fun, lesson tied activities.
I'm excited they're getting the Word taught to them,
on their level,
 even if they don't quite remember every detail about the lesson.
I KNOW their little ears
and hearts are receptive to what's being taught.
And I seriously can't wait until the lightbulb of their heart
really understands and receives what is being taught,
and they feel that connection with the Lord.

BUT,
they know,
Sunday is also the last day of their weekend.
I guess most working adults have the same dilemma with the dreaded Monday.
haha.

They've been in school now for a bit over 2 weeks,
which has still been a bit of an adjustment from carefree days of no schedules,
to scheduled time slots for snacks, homework, chores, rest time
(ahem, naps... yes, they still get them frequently,
their little bodies and brains need a rest)
dinner, karate, etc.

The teacher's have been pretty easy on them,
So, I can't complain,
mom's and dad's get to ease into the homework routine as well.

Since summer break is still fresh on their brains,
 they've asked me quite a bit WHEN their next break is lol

 NOT for a long time my friends,
not for a LONG time.

Groans are what I get in response

Now for the last of the summer posts
and photos to prove why they'd still rather be on break.
