RETRO-FIT #5 FUNCTIONING FRONT POCKET
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH, 2013
OHH I'm on a roll!
I've been keeping my word on getting my posting caught up,
well on the most current things at least.
THRIFTED BLOUSE- $.99
BEFORE:
It had a great waist and cool print.Mini envelopes?
Navy & Pink/Dusty rose?
And the blouse was lined with hidden buttons except for the top one.
L. I quickly ripped those pads off the shoulder
and removed the padding.
They were no joke, totally stiff.
T.R. I cut the sides of one "pad"
B.R. I then sewed the new sides to form a pocket!
T. I've only made pockets a few times, so this was kind of scary.
I unstitched the sides of the faux pocket only and then made a horizontal cut.
The cut was just a bit smaller than the width of the pocket area.
B. Then I turned the blouse inside out and pinned new pocket.
I made sure to line up the fabric right-side facing each other.
I then carefully sewed along the edges of the 2 lined up fabrics.
L. I then picked out some lace to add some contrast and pinned to the length of blouse and over pocket.
I made sure to un-sew the top and bottom areas of the blouse
where the lace would go.
I then tucked in and stitched up. I only sewed horizontally and every few inches.
R. I made a new button hole over the lace since it covered the only
visible button hole.
I don't have photos but I took off about 2 inches from the sleeves.
Last I picked out a different button
and it was a perfect match!
AFTER:
I wore with a mint tank, old thrifted jeans, recently thrifted tan boots,
the green cuff bracelet and green/gold earrings.
Well, that's it!
I've had fun working on the old this whole month.
And thanks to the great weather & my obliging hubby,
I've gotten some nice outdoor shots.
Although, he still asks 'not your face?'
yes hubby,
just my bod lol jk
