TIRE TRACK CURTAINS! - racing room redo #2

TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2013

Tire track curtains, diy curtains, boys curtains, tire track craft

Good morning friends!

I'm so excited to finally get on the ball
with all my son's race room redos.

I've worked very slowly, pure distraction,
and am just about done.
I worked on his homework/computer desk yesterday
and hope to finish off his chairs soon.

A little while back I worked on some curtains for his room.

Before look, plans for his room & updates here

TIERED TANK & MATERNITY TANK RUCHING

MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2013

Good day friends!

I recently worked on 2 tanks to fit my changing body.

REDOS, BLOUSE REDO, MATERNITY REDO

The first being a thrifted, Non-maternity, tiered tank, which was WAY too big,
 especially the arm holes.
The second is a Ross maternity tank which had no shape at all.
I wore it 2x before I finally HAD to fix it,
and both times I felt totally frumpy, even though it's so cute.

The alterations are below.

FIXING A TIGHT ELASTIC BAND

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2013

DIY EXPANDED BAND, FIX ELASTIC WAIST BAND, MATERNITY PANTS

These jeans,
these jeans.
They were a PERFECT FIT except for the belly band.
UGHHH, painful.
I purchased these pair in a medium and a large in Black.
The band on the black pair was perfect but everything else was still too big.
That's when I knew it wasn't just me, they really didn't do a good job of sizing the elastic band.
So instead of getting all huffy about it, I fixed them!

MATERNITY DRESS TO MATERNITY BLOUSE

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2013

HAPPY FRIDAY friends!
MATERNITY, MATERNITY DRESS TO BLOUSE, DIY BLOUSE, THRIFTED MATERNITY

I feel like the kids and I have had a successful, first full week of school.
Waking up for them is getting easier,
getting dressed and beds made, much quicker
and so far, small amounts of homework :)
Oh and I've been back on the dreaded treadmill as of this week, yay....

I pray you all have a blessed weekend.

HOT WHEELS LAMP & FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2013

HOT WHEELS LAMP, DIY LAMP

The kids started school last week, August 15th, 2013.
Although they initially dreaded it, they were super excited the night before
and seems to be the norm for now.

Wait till the real homework starts rolling in, I'm sure it'll change everything.
;)

There's a quick peek at our first day of school
after the lamp details

Prego tips

But some(family/friends) may,
or others like myself trying to find alternatives to what's out there.
Really, it's more to motivate me to get dressed
and not fall prey to feeling "big" and frumpy, like my previous pregnancies.
Also, it's a great way for me to document my growing belly:)

Prego story :)

FYI if you have a
account,
you can also see my outfits there.

Back then, I didn't do redo's, think outside the box
or do much but accept whatever clothes fit.
It was a legitimate low part of each pregnancy,
aside from the actual weight gain and nauseousness.
Being self conscious when you're pregnant is unnecessary and stressful,
but it's what I felt.
We were way limited in funds which made it even harder to get clothes
I liked.
It got a little better with my daughter, thanks to a friend passing on some clothes.
I just wasn't as confident as I'd like to be.

Oh and feeling proud about the belly?!
Forget it!
I felt more embarrassed as if people were judging my heftiness lol

But not this time!
I'm rocking the bump and excited to dress "it"!

(OUTFIT BELOW)
I've been very fortunate to find some decent clothes at the thrift store (not all maternity), some clearanced at JCPenny
and some super cute at Ross(limited selection).

I KNOW there's tons of places online to get clothes
but for way more than I'd like to pay.

I'm excited to use all the tools I've learned while doing REDO's,
 to dress nicely and inexpensively.

I'll be adding my outfit of the day here,
with the older outfits at the bottom.

37 weeks, cheap maternity, thrifted maternity
12.27.13
Thrifted non-mat. blouse, mat. sweater & belt, Mat. stretchy pants:Ross,
boots:Marshall's, ring: Old Navy clearance
I'm almost there folks!
I've been feeling the weight slow me down, literally.
Doesn't help that I've indulged, more than necessary.
I blame it on the holidays,
My prego excuse,
weird entitlement,
about to not have an excuse,
and because our fast will begin come Jan 1st!

Other outfits below.

OUR GARDEN IS GROWING...

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 2013

Oh August, you and your dreaded heat.
You force us to stay indoors.
I hear it's not suppose to cool down in California UNTIL the end of September!?

Well, in the meantime I've been catching up on my summer 2013 series,
(pretty proud of myself)
but still have part 3 to add, which I'll get to once August is through.

We enjoyed a few other, super fun activities, before school started this Thursday
and survived the 2 days of school this week!
Yep, 2 days :)

The kids were relieved it wasn't a whole week.
Me too, it eases us into the whole thing.

BUT,

The
MOST
important
 summer
 development
so
far
is...

SUMMER 2013- JULY

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2013

Summer is almost over, summer 2013,
here

School for my kiddos is about to start!
Tomorrow is the BIG DAY.

They are obviously not thrilled about giving up their summer,
late nights, summer activities and most importantly having NO HOMEWORK.
But I've been building it up, talking about reconnecting with friends, making new ones
and the best part....WEARING NEW CLOTHES!
I think it softens the "blow" lol don't you think?

We've been getting everything together,
clothes, backpacks, lunch boxes, school supplies and food for their lunches.

I get spoiled every time I don't have to pack lunches
but now it's that time again.
I think I dread that more than homework time most days hahaha.
Snacks, lunch items, waters, fruits/veggies, ice packs, oh my!

This is our LAST day of summer.
:(
here

Hoping to catch up with an old friend today and then take the kids out for an activity of their choice.
Each year, the last day of summer we celebrate in some way,
well, even on the last day of school.
Especially because most summer's we don't get everything on our summer list done.

It's my way of accepting the inevitable by going out with a big bang, sort of :)

Here's part 2 of 3 summer posts!

Missed part 1?

SUMMER 2013- JUNE

TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2013

Hey friends,
I hope you've enjoyed your summer.
We've done lots, which I'll get to part of that today.
I definitely don't want it to be like last year's very delayed summer posts, :/
which FYI are all up.

We've got a few more days until school starts,
boo,
but I should be getting to the rest of the summer posts,
including most of the "racing room" redo's, for my son soon.

Here's part 1 of 3 condensed summer posts!

ps. I'm sick of traveling.
I'm going to need a good break from it,
fly next time,
or stay longer....
the last 2 are not likely lol.
