FAMILY CHRISTMAS PHOTOS 2013

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2013

here

Have you all got your shopping done?
Taken a great family picture
for that annual photo card?
Sent out Christmas cards?
Baked tons of cookies?
CONSUMED tons of cookies? hahaha.
Attended ugly sweater parties?

Well we've done most of that!

I'm proud to say we took family photos this Holiday
because we failed horribly last year.

I love that we captured yet another Holiday,
season of our lives,
and our children's youth, as life is continually changing.

I have LOTS of photo albums...maybe 30, filled with family events
but mainly photos of my babies.
I have a year plus of undeveloped photos, waiting to be dealt with,
which will more than likely fill another 3-5 albums.
IT'S a tad daunting
BUT my passion to document my family's life, keeps me motivated.
More so recently as our family dynamic is about to change.

FOREVER :)

My kids groan most times at the idea of ANOTHER photo,
whether staged or random,
but they comply like hubby because
1. I get my way in this area 99% of the time
2. Hubby knows its for a good reason- preserving our family moments
3. They know its important to me

Besides, I do ALL the work-
pick coordinating outfits,
find/set up location,
stage them,
& take photos.

THEY just gotta show up and smile!

IT'S DECEMBER?!

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2013

So much has been going on around here,
I haven't had time, energy, motivation- to do, remake or post anything.
Mainly lack of energy.

So, if you still stop by here, I appreciate the support
and your forgiveness over my flakiness.

Thankfully hubby put up our outside Christmas lights before Thanksgiving,
the Christmas tunes have been going since then as well,
We got a tree over a week ago and has been decorated,

I've made a few batches of cookies with the kiddos,

Excuse the mess, this is a multi function spot in our tiny kitchen-
Phone center, lunch making, cookies...
for soft gingerbread cookies
from Browneyedbaker.com she's got some amazing treats!

I remember now WHY we don't make these very often,
they take forever!
Kiddos kept asking for Gingerbread cookies so we carved out some time.

I'm joyously hooked on all the Christmas movies on TV
and
We just took our family Christmas photos!
(preview)

An achievement on its own as we missed it entirely last year.

If it wasn't for all the above I don't think I'd really be in the holiday spirit.
I managed to change out my living room & dining table decor to accommodate
the holiday but that's it.
My front porch is sad, no wreath on door, no poinsettias, nothing.
The only thing going for it, is that my door is red,
HOLLY BERRY (Behr) to be exact lol

I haven't even kept up with any of the blogs.
I feel so out of the loop.
I might log on, gloss over the daily snippets and then feel overwhelmed by it,
too much reading to catch up on...
I in turn log off :(

Part of me doesn't feel so bad
since a few of you out there, which I normally read on a daily basis,
have also taken a hiatus from posting.

Here's my list of current to-do's
+ updates
I'm behind on the last of my summer 2013 posts...

BEST OF 2012/13~ 3 YEARS OF REDO'S!

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2013

Happy Sunday!

I can't believe I've been at these redo's for 3 years!
Est. 12.6.2010
And on Blogger for 2, (12.7.11)

Although the redo's originally started with mainly sewing,
I've welcomed the changes and challenges of remaking/redoing

other projects as well.

The best of 2012/2013

My current project?
Making a healthy baby hahaha
He'll be here some time mid January.

In all seriousness,
my main focus for a while will be the new addition to the family.
And although I'd LOVE to only talk about him,
I'll refrain as much as possible, lest you get sick of me, roll your eyes in boredom,
vow to never return and ultimately "disown" me as your virtual friend.
Yep, I'm just going to contain myself.

Believe me, I'll be sharing about him and the rest of my family as usual
but I WON'T let that take over.
Well, maybe just a teensy weensy bit. lol

As of now no guarantees on when I'll post or what kind of posts I'll make,
if sleeplessness will render me useless or give me some wacky inspiration.
Probably the 1st.

BUT since he's not here yet.........

Check out The Best Of,
your 2012/13 faves!

HAPPY REDOVERSARY?!
BLOGAVERSARY?

REDO-IRTHDAY?

I'm useless already.

LET'S BE THANKFUL

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2013

Hi friends, I hope you've had a great month
and fully enjoyed your Thanksgiving.

HERE

I was busy working most of October and some of November gathering
inexpensive items for the baby shower,
my mom and sis were throwing me.
My sis is more a funding kind of person than a
creative one. LOL
She "commissioned" me to decorate how I wanted and she'd cover it.

So I did my best to keep it inexpensive.
Because that's just how I am by nature.

Some of the photos are below as well a few more from our November happenings.

Hope you all had enough Turkey
cause Christmas cookies are next!

OCTOBER FESTIVITIES 2013!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2013

So the big news is out!
If you missed it, we revealed the gender of baby A.  here
And if you didn't know about said baby, just shameful...
I forgive you, now check it out.

Aside from all the wonderful milestones in our pregnancy and those to come,
we've gotten to do some fun fall activities with the family.
As usual we visited the pumpkin farm
BUT this year worked in a visit to Apple Hill 1st which is home to different apple, fruit, pumpkin, grape(wineries) & Christmas tree farms.

In the past, Apple Hill was reserved for November but the weather has typically proven unfavorable and unreliable.
So this year we went early and enjoyed home baked desserts,
yummy food, home made candies/fudge, apple cider, kids crafts,
some fishing and GREAT weather!

All the photos are below,
Enjoy!

BLOSSOM OR BUD?

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2013

We're approaching the end of October and soon all the holidays/events to come,
will begin to roll right into each other.
Which means, this baby will be here before I know it!

As I mentioned here on 9.25.13,
we had known the gender of the baby for a while,
but chose to hold onto that info for a bit.

I made these little flowers for them

Blossom or Bud?

It wasn't like we said,
"Guess what? We know what we're having and we're not telling."

We kept mum about it until someone would ask.
Then we'd tell them we'd share soon enough because we wanted to enjoy this info as a couple, pray about it and well, truthfully share when WE were ready.

Of course, our choice had some "side effects" hahaha
CONTINUAL questions,
attempts to "trap" us into revealing the gender,
assumptions based on belly size/position,
confirmations based on what color I wore that day....

Oh and requests to be the FIRST to be told.
HOW do we do that with so many people!?

TAKING IN A DRESS: SHOULDERS AND BUST

MONDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2013

Happy Monday friends.

It's mid day and I'm pooped already.

1) Woke up eager to get my kids ready for picture day,
which is always filled with a tad pressure to get them photo ready.
If I'm paying the money, we need quality shots which
a) will go into the yearbook,
b) be mailed out to family.

Picture day's are also filled with reminders:
 not to get dirty,
fix their hair or at least keep it neat UNTIL the photo is snapped
and most importantly, SMILE GENUINELY!
Can't wait to see my cuties :)

2) M.S. our adoptive, giant of a daughter/student
has had some health issues and could not drive herself to the doctor this morning.
I got to play mom while her real mommy was away with her sister at a
different medical appt.

3) It's my typical laundry day. I'm getting to it, slowly but dreading it  :/
4) Working on Red Ribbon Week stuff for our school,
(confirming order, getting ready to print and cut a load of papers/stickers, ect.)
as it will be here before I know it.

HAPPY, HAPPY Monday,
I'm selling myself on the happy part hahaha

Maternity dress: Thrifted $2.00 (Target brand)

fixing a dress, fixing shoulders of dress, fixing bust of dress, thrifted dress
BEFORE: Ignore the makeup-less, undid hair, me. The focus was the dress.
AFTER: Worn with a thrifted belt, tank & booties + a leopard bangle

This weekend was warm again, a perfect time to wear my "new" dress.

I thrifted it recently but hadn't worked on it yet.
It hung too low on my chest,
had an awkward bust area, with pointy/saggy features in the wrong, wrong, place haha
and the narrowest part hung lower than it should.

Although it's a maternity dress,
the method should work for most dresses.

RACE ROOM REVEAL........FINALLY!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2013

In my defense.......
I had tons going on and actually finished it in early September.
I just hadn't photographed it.
I'm no photographer, so figuring out the right time to photograph,
the lighting and the settings on this other camera I got passed down,
was all iffy.
The photos are what they are.
I wish they did the room more justice.

The before shots are here

FALL-IFIED AREAS :)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2013

Today is the last day of September!

here

This month flew by so quickly and rightfully so.
Aside from all the daily stuff,
  I was finishing my son's room (Post that soon);
rearranging our bedroom and making room for the crib at some point
(that'll get a redo too!);
working on some living room changes (someday I'll show you that);
making Fall changes in our common areas :) (That's today's post);
and
the most important one on my list;
 praying for our baby,
the name,
and finally revealing both to our families and friends after knowing for a while.
I'll share that soon too.

ps...did I mention we were "harassed" relentlessly about that too lol
sheesh people

SIMPLE FALL DECOR-my front porch

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2013

I'm excited people,
the mornings are getting colder
and the evenings are chilly!
Now, if only the afternoons would hurry up and catch up with my fave season,
I'd really be giddy.

As promised, here's a look at my front porch
and the simple/cheap fixes I made.

By no means am I saying this is the most marvelous,
eye catching, super cute porch haha
JUST some simple and inexpensive additions for those of us
who don't have a decor fund.
If only ;)

*The simple how-to's will be at the end.

I LOVE FALL WREATH- using Dollar Tree items

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2013

FALL IS HERE!!!!

Ok officially but not visibly, at least in California.
I want colder weather, all day;
sweaters, boots;
leaves changing color;
hot chocolate;
homemade soup;
you know, the works.

We did have some crazy storm go through though,
on the LAST day of summer 9.21.13,
but that was about it.
Since then we've just enjoyed brisk mornings
which then become warm afternoons :(

Knowing Autumn was literally days away,
I got my stuff together to start crafting/decor'ing away!

It helps since there's no other signs of Fall.

50'S FOLDING CHAIR REDO & AGED PILLOWS- RACING ROOM REDO'S #4&5

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

This is racing room redo #4 & #5(at the end),
but technically the 3rd in the typewriter cart/desk redo.

I had intended to paint the chairs
and
reupholster with the checkered flag material left over from my son's 9th birthday party.

After taking them apart,

fell in love with the little hidden treasures underneath!

Redo #4
metal chair, chair redo, rusted chair
BEFORE/AFTER
They had some great wear, rust & industrial-ness to them!

We had purchased these chairs MANY, MANY,  years ago from a thrift store.
We got 6 and loved how easily they stored when not in use.
The seat lifts up and the legs fold in to each other!

INDUSTRIAL TYPEWRITER CART to RUSTED DESK: PT 2

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2013

As promised, part 2 to the cart/desk makeover.
Chair post will follow soon.

This was a much a quicker redo on the desk as:
1. I had very little to do with it lol
2. Hubby did the majority of the work.
So I get some a tiny bit of the credit for this little addition ;)

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

I'm excited to share the desk redo
for my son's RACING ROOM makeover!

There's lots of photos,
3 looks,
 different steps to achieve them
and an addition to it.
So, I'm breaking it down into 2 posts
with a 3rd one following for the chairs.

BELT FIX & ADDING SOME EXTRA HOLES

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2013

I'm feeling a little run down.
So much that I don't have the energy to post my real redo's hahaha.

So here's a quick one.

I had 2 belts, 1 thrifted months ago which had gotten slightly ruined
and a second which I recently got at the flea market, but too big.

I purposely got a larger size as I'd like to keep using it during the pregnancy.

2 THRIFTED TOPS= 1 TUNIC

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2013

Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday's are nice for us,
the kids have late start, which means 1 hr 25min later than usual.
We all get to sleep in a tad more and that's always a bonus :)

I've been busy with home projects, sewing and finishing up my son's room.
I guess more so now because the kids are at school and I'm in sprint mode
before the baby comes.
I can't wait to share those soon.

Today I'll be showing you the redo on the tunic I made last week,
 using 2 previously thrifted items.

(other outfits here)

The first "top" is technically the top of a very short dress I took apart months ago.
At the time I used the bottom as a skirt and fitted it to my size.
I'm SO thankful I held on to the tank portion of it.

The second top was thrifted a ways back when I did all my RETRO FIT FEBRUARY redo's
and never used it: $0.99

SUMMER 2013- AUGUST

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2013

Happy Sunday everyone!

here
My kids have a love-hate DISLIKE Immensely,
 relationship with Sundays.

They love seeing their friends at kids church, playing, eating snacks
and doing the fun, lesson tied activities.
I'm excited they're getting the Word taught to them,
on their level,
even if they don't quite remember every detail about the lesson.
I KNOW their little ears
and hearts are receptive to what's being taught.
And I seriously can't wait until the lightbulb of their heart
really understands and receives what is being taught,
and they feel that connection with the Lord.

BUT,
they know,
Sunday is also the last day of their weekend.
I guess most working adults have the same dilemma with the dreaded Monday.
haha.

They've been in school now for a bit over 2 weeks,
which has still been a bit of an adjustment from carefree days of no schedules,
to scheduled time slots for snacks, homework, chores, rest time
(ahem, naps... yes, they still get them frequently,
their little bodies and brains need a rest)
dinner, karate, etc.

The teacher's have been pretty easy on them,
So, I can't complain,
mom's and dad's get to ease into the homework routine as well.

Since summer break is still fresh on their brains,
they've asked me quite a bit WHEN their next break is lol

NOT for a long time my friends,
not for a LONG time.

Groans are what I get in response

Now for the last of the summer posts
and photos to prove why they'd still rather be on break.

TIRE TRACK CURTAINS! - racing room redo #2

TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2013

Tire track curtains, diy curtains, boys curtains, tire track craft

Good morning friends!

I'm so excited to finally get on the ball
with all my son's race room redos.

I've worked very slowly, pure distraction,
and am just about done.
I worked on his homework/computer desk yesterday
and hope to finish off his chairs soon.

A little while back I worked on some curtains for his room.

Before look, plans for his room & updates here

His desk & curtains before.

TIERED TANK & MATERNITY TANK RUCHING

MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2013

Good day friends!

I recently worked on 2 tanks to fit my changing body.

REDOS, BLOUSE REDO, MATERNITY REDO

The first being a thrifted, Non-maternity, tiered tank, which was WAY too big,
 especially the arm holes.
The second is a Ross maternity tank which had no shape at all.
I wore it 2x before I finally HAD to fix it,
and both times I felt totally frumpy, even though it's so cute.

The alterations are below.

FIXING A TIGHT ELASTIC BAND

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2013

DIY EXPANDED BAND, FIX ELASTIC WAIST BAND, MATERNITY PANTS

These jeans,
these jeans.
They were a PERFECT FIT except for the belly band.
UGHHH, painful.
I purchased these pair in a medium and a large in Black.
The band on the black pair was perfect but everything else was still too big.
That's when I knew it wasn't just me, they really didn't do a good job of sizing the elastic band.
So instead of getting all huffy about it, I fixed them!

MATERNITY DRESS TO MATERNITY BLOUSE

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2013

HAPPY FRIDAY friends!
MATERNITY, MATERNITY DRESS TO BLOUSE, DIY BLOUSE, THRIFTED MATERNITY

I feel like the kids and I have had a successful, first full week of school.
Waking up for them is getting easier,
getting dressed and beds made, much quicker
and so far, small amounts of homework :)
Oh and I've been back on the dreaded treadmill as of this week, yay....

I pray you all have a blessed weekend.

here
