*OVERDUE* SUMMER 2012 PT3

MONDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2012

August 2-3 2012
Eureka, Ca

It was time for hubby to go back to Eureka so we tagged along again.
It was a nice distraction from everything that had just happened with Matilda.

We were extremely fortunate to get her ashes right before the trip
as I didn't want them left at the pet hospital.
I really wanted to have her close, so we brought her along.

Summer, Fort Humbolt Eureka, ca
This was our 1st time visiting the Fort.

There were logging materials/equipment, a few trains and military remnants.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2012

and enjoyed our family time!

THANKSGIVING & CURRENT PROJECTS

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2012

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
We had such a wonderful time in Los Angeles, I can't wait to share!
That will come right after this short pause
 for my holiday season "epiphany"....
 The year is almost over,
DECEMBER
 is a "day" away,
we've been playing Christmas music way before Thanksgiving,
household changes have begun again,
I've been "itching" to get Christmas decor going
and now its literally HOURS 'till,
which is SO different from last year's sentiments.
I don't know what my problem was.
I love Christmas,
 celebrating the birth of Jesus,
family,
ect
 but my enthusiasm was gone.
Hubby, kids & MS
did ALL the decorating.
BUT NOT THIS YEAR
Oh no,
I'm heading up the biggest,
cheapest,
home & Christmas decor
effort ever,
in my history of decorating.
:)
Yes, you can all clap for me as I "release my wiggles"Nacho Libre
for the upcoming Holy Day.
So, After today's post I'll ONLY be working on Christmas decor,
other household changes,
 and these
ANGELS OF EAST AFRICA
the children that Sam Childer's rescues
and shared about here.

Phew....
its all out.
Now you know what my brain has been fervently dealing with.
I mean there's so much to do,
so much I've started and never finished
AND
the very reason why I DON'T DO PINTEREST
GASP
at least not until I can learn to control myself.
NEW IDEAS,
hundreds and hundreds of new ideas
=
no sleep.
I NEED sleep.
I'll share everything I do as I go along.
DEAL?
DEAL
NOW, onto our regularly scheduled blah blah blah

*OVERDUE* SUMMER 2012 PT2

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 19 , 2012

Thanksgiving is JUST a few days awaaaay!
We spend it with hubby's LARGE family in L.A.
and Christmas here with mine :)
TURKEY FACE

So, we're pretty excited for this 2nd trip to L.A.
as the last one was speedy and short
(1st was a few weeks back).
We'll see all the in laws, nephews, nieces,
eat great food and have lots of fun.

Praying you all have a great holiday,
 give thanks for your blessings,
enjoy each others company,
savor the long awaited food,
and
pass the calories on to the less "cushioned"
hahaha
HAPPY early THANKSGIVING!

If you've just stopped by welcome!

This is PART 2 of 3 Summer 2012 photo posts.
PART 1  PART 3

YES, summer is long gone.

This post and the one to come
are late but with reason.
I don't want to delay anymore, so here goes.

Back in June I took a much needed break from blogging & clothing redo's for my kiddo's.
Their summer break was too important.

And as expected,
you probably relished your summer moments,
posted photos of your adorable kiddos/fur babies,
shared your adventures
and
documented another great season.

I hoped for the same.

July held great memories

ENTER HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2012

Thanksgiving is almost here!
We've been talking so much about being thankful lately,
at bible study, youth and at the church's school today.
About what this opportunity for celebration is all about.

Psalm 100:4

New International Version (NIV)
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
I think about all the things God's done for me personally and for my family
and I HAVE to acknowledge how good & giving God has been.

For the family and friends we have,
my pastor and church
our church family(2nd fam)
for the home we "own",
the cars we have,
hubby's job,
the opportunities I am given to volunteer at my kid's school
and at the church's private school,
 my hubby & kids,
their teachers
THANKSGIVING TEACHER CRAFTS
Teacher gifts: Candles & Chocolate :)
Turkey's have a 'thank you' note on the back

 food,
clothes,
health,
peace,
joy,
restoration,
salvation....
 There's so much.
"Mr Turkey" who fills our tummies,
he can't help being so popular
hahaha
 And
of course, the opportunity to speak freely here
while you all sympathetically & humoringly
(ya, its a real word, I checked )
listen.
THANKS,
I  really am thankful.

I want to say THANK YOU to all the veterans
 past, present & future.

At Grama B's funeral
These are my cousins, we're very proud of them.
A big thank you to them and our other family members who have served.

////////////////////

We're so excited for this time of year!
It's filled with many fun family events leading to
Thanksgiving and flowing right into Christmas.

Did I mention that hubby and I
LOVE
this time of year?
online
Are you feeling the excitement?!

The visual beauty of the season's changes,
 the weather,
cozying up with a hot cup of coffee, tea or cocoa,
the decor, lights, music
and
the family time.
It just makes us giddy, literally.
:)
I can't forget about the crafting too!
I'm super duper excited about crafting stuff for the season,
 a first in years.
Some to spruce up our home as well.

Before all these wonderful activities got on their way,
we decided to start this season off right
and put each other first.

We hung out at our church for the annual Harvest Carnival,

there was no time to make anything.
Wednesday we threw it all together
and
DIDN'T have to buy anything!
RETRO COSTUME, 70'S COSTUME, 70'S LOOK
M.S. had everything for her costume, she borrowed my dollar tree hat.
I had everything too, the shirt was purchased in the summer for .99
It was suppose to be a donation once I fixed it....I guess it was meant for me.

Messing around before the night started,
a COUNTRY SINGER & her 70's MAMMA!

SIBLINGS

CHEAP COSTUMES, LUKE SKYWALKER, LIGHT SABER,
I used M.L.'s Karate Gi, old belt, thrifted sweats, hubby's extra white shirt for strips around his legs to mimic the "boots" and a saber grama bought him this summer.
IF only my baby girl would have donned the Princess Leah costume,
I would have had the perfect duo.
It wasn't girly enough.

CHEAP COSTUMES, PRINCESS
N.B. wore a bday dress she received 2 yrs ago, headband recently gifted by grama, my "pearls", white tights & slip ons.
I curled her hair & added some makeup both of which made her EXTREMELY excited :)

MAKE DO PT6: THOUGHTS,TIPS & A FEATURE!

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2012

As I said last week,
The MAKE-DO CHALLENGE was officially over

I chose to continue it for a few reasons:
-Share my thoughts on MAKING-DO
-What its done for us
-Our tips for MAKING-DO
and
-Last, but not least, this...........

THE SISTERS FOUR
featured me on their Making Do challenge!

They gave it a fancy name...
MAKING DO WITH AMANDA

ok jk, not fancy but fun!

whad'ya say?!

I know can you believe it?!

((((heart pounding))))
<<annoying squeals!>>

What a cool honor :)

I didn't want to mention it prematurely,
after all...
they could have figured out what kind of nut I really am,
(M.S. & hubby know it all too well)
report me as spam,
and, well you know, reject my awesomeness wisdom,
;)
so I've kept mum for what seems like an eternity,
OK weeks lol

They let me loose,
I talked
and now I share with you :)
THANKS SISTERS!!!!

Head over, they are a fun bunch!
And if you feel so inclined,
Check out my Make-Do rantings

MAKE-DO PT.5 & RED RIBBON WEEK

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 ,2012

TECHNICALLY the Make-Do challenge is over

check it out

pt.1  pt.2  pt.3  pt.4    pt.6
but over here in my neck of the woods,
we got 1 more week to go.
YOU HEAR ME?!
You all gotta hold on 1 more week hahaha

 I will say though,
I didn't shop for anything,
 except food.

Not shopping wasn't hard,
it was knowing I couldn't in theory,
that made me want to lol.

Does that make sense?

here

Its like the child who is oblivious to their surroundings.
A parent/adult usually points it out,
advises them NOT to wander off
& subsequently causes the child to be curious about it.
That was me.
But I didn't "wander off", I promise!

I got to flex my Make-Do "muscle"
and prove that I still got it.

here
 GRANNY YOU still got it!!!!
lol
Check out THE SISTERS FOUR to learn about their experience
with the Make-Do Challenge.

QUEEN-LIKE TUNES & MAKE-DO PT.4

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2012

STORY TIME............

BEFORE
as in once upon a time,
in my hey day,
when I wasn't following fully after God,
I loved Queen, ABBA and a bunch more.
I was into rock, rap, dance, oldies, Spanish, M.J., 70's, 80's, 90's, mime...
j/k haha, I crack myself up
(it stopped there as in the late 90's I rededicated my life to the Lord
and CHOSE only to listen to encouraging stuff)

I still love those styles with the exception of rap....I'm cool with some of it.
The difference now is that its all Christian and it is AMAZING!
You can find almost any genre in Christian music.
CHECK out my encouragement page

SO when I heard this band a few years ago
I
WAS

IN
LOVE

Sounds like QUEEN but is Christian?! Sign me up!

It didn't help that lead singer Marc Martel LOOKED like Freddy Mercury
AND sounded like him here in BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.

Downhere
You know how it is,
you love a song/CD,
 (MY LAST AMEN sold me)
buy it,
play it till everyone around you is bored to death,
you still love it,
then you don't. lol

THAT was this CD.
I played it so much, I got sick of it.

Anyway, I popped it in after a LONG rest,
and love it again, its like new!

I've rediscovered
my
 QUEEN-like tunes

And guess what?
Marc auditioned for the QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA,
a travelling tribute show to QUEEN
WON & was a guest on ELLEN!

Ahh, that was a GREAT story Amanda,
I know, right?
TY
YW
:)

Now  to the "nitty gritty" as Nacho Libre so eloquently put it.
I look up to that man, I tell you, so well spoken.
hahahaha

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2012

Its the time to pick the BEST pumpkin,
enjoy the festivities
AND
eat mounds of cream cheese frosting from delicious cinnnamon rolls,
 and we DID :)

hubby, ML, Mom- aka Grama

his neck "skin" reminds me of ground beef
on his head, old ground beef lol

My baby girl, she was 3'+ last year

My big boy, he was almost 4' last year.

"mining" for marbles!

Train ride

Corn maze

Rotten corn?
I had to look it up
GROSS!

Home sweet Home

They're displayed proudly,
being that they're God's creation and all
and
the kiddos feel pretty proud of their pickin's.
Now we wait patiently
 till our harvest carnival
  when
we can eat candy non stop :)
