I'll get to this in a bit

I hope you all had a great Veteran's day.
These are my cousins, we're very proud of them.

I hope you all had a great Veteran's day.
I want to say THANK YOU to all the veterans
past, present & future.
past, present & future.
At Grama B's funeral |
A big thank you to them and our other family members who have served.

We're so excited for this time of year!
It's filled with many fun family events leading to
Thanksgiving and flowing right into Christmas.
Did I mention that hubby and I
LOVE
this time of year?
online |
Are you feeling the excitement?!
The visual beauty of the season's changes,
the weather,
cozying up with a hot cup of coffee, tea or cocoa,
the decor, lights, music
and
the family time.
It just makes us giddy, literally.
:)
I can't forget about the crafting too!
I'm super duper excited about crafting stuff for the season,
a first in years.
Some to spruce up our home as well.
Before all these wonderful activities got on their way,
we decided to start this season off right
and put each other first.
(just scroll down about mid-way).
And prior to that.........
not really sure.
Groupon had a great deal.
It was exactly what I wanted but didn't know existed.
I searched on my own and nothing I liked or within reason,
until glorious Groupon came "knocking"
at my email's door.
Tada!
The place is beautiful, simple, modern & rustic.
L. to R.-I loved the "GET LOST" & "TAKE A HIKE" signs
that greet you and bid you goodbye. lol
But are really in reference to exploring :)
-The breakfast nook we enjoyed was cozy
-Zoltar brought memories of BIG
and
-And shopping for souvenirs + a nice walk to Starbucks :) was fun that brisk morning.
On our way home we stopped off for some pics.
We had a great time
and
confirmed why its OK to get away......

We fully understand the importance of a healthy Godly marriage
and strive for that daily.
"Getting away" is something we've just recently decided to implement.
God made the provision
and sis covered the kiddie sleepover.
Our next one should come around Jan/Feb :)

Our kiddos are little just for a short while and we haven't wanted to miss anything.
Yes, we would have enjoyed the time away as a couple,

Yes, we would have enjoyed the time away as a couple,
but establishing strong bonds with them,
especially for those preteen/teen years to come (yikes),
have been our highest priority.
have been our highest priority.
Even though we've done more family activities than anything,
it has been an absolute blessing!
Our families didn't have as many opportunities
growing up.
We enjoy it so much and love to see our kiddos happy.
We've actually just returned from a great weekend in Eureka/Arcata
for hubby's job.
He does his best to wait for a time when we can all go.
No matter what it looks like,
God is always providing.
It doesn't matter that its a business trip,
on his off time hubby makes it the best family trip.

"FAMILY TIME"
here |
ACTUALLY.......
we're more like this, haha
here |
Most Fridays our family is living it up.....
um, grabbing a redbox movie & some cheap dinner hahaha
ie:
Little Ceasers pizza, Wendy's Dollar menu or something easily made at home.
And "intermission", a constant for dessert time.
The kids are fun, easy going & love to hang out with us now,
that might probably will change.
that
All that said, hubby & I make time to talk, hang out
and watch "our" shows.
and watch "our" shows.
Even an occasional movie when kiddos go to sleep.
Recently while watching a movie in bed,
"snuck" in bowls of cereal.

Its something we hadn't done in a long while
and felt like we'd get in trouble for if the kids caught us lol

It was great.
Although our date nights aren't frequent,
I promote & enjoy "date nights" greatly.

So, when sis hosts a sleepover with my kiddos,
we happily send them off and hit the door running for "date night" lol
Do your best to connect before the Holiday season gets into full force.
If all else fails, go ahead,
be sneaky tonight
and
grab yourselves a BIG bowl of cereal.
2 friends enjoying good company and humor.
And its nice to dress up for your special guy
& vise versa.

Connection with your spouse is your marital lifeline.
Living in the same house with no connection
is kind of like having a roommate.
WE didn't get married just to have a roommate!
RIGHT?
But if I had to have roommates, these wouldn't hurt. lol
When your marriage is blessed your babies are blessed.RIGHT?

It doesn't have to be expensive or even at night.
Deals tend to be better during the day too.

Take 1-2 hours: buy some breakfast, coffee, yogurt....
Take a walk, hold hands, talk, etc
or
or
meet up for lunch/picnic.
If none of that works, set 20 min. aside regularly.
Make it ONLY hubby & you time,
talk on the couch or table, to catch up.

Set the timer if need be
and let it be your no kid zone "date".
