BLOSSOM OR BUD?
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2013
We're approaching the end of October and soon all the holidays/events to come,
will begin to roll right into each other.
will begin to roll right into each other.
Which means, this baby will be here before I know it!
As I mentioned here on 9.25.13,
we had known the gender of the baby for a while,
but chose to hold onto that info for a bit.
It wasn't like we said,
"Guess what? We know what we're having and we're not telling."
We kept mum about it until someone would ask.
Then we'd tell them we'd share soon enough because we wanted to enjoy this info as a couple, pray about it and well, truthfully share when WE were ready.
Of course, our choice had some "side effects" hahaha
CONTINUAL questions,
attempts to "trap" us into revealing the gender,
assumptions based on belly size/position,
confirmations based on what color I wore that day....
Oh and requests to be the FIRST to be told.
HOW do we do that with so many people!?
Well, this is how we did it.
Our children were the 1st to know and ONLY a day before everyone else,
because unfortunately they too got tortured with the questions.
Truthfully, we could never hold them responsible for a slip of the tongue,
so we opted to keep the info from them up until the very end.
so we opted to keep the info from them up until the very end.
*Then my sis found out because she was taking our photos.
And we had all 3 of them PROMISE, PROMISE AND PROMISE NOT
to reveal the info until we disclosed it first.
They kept their word :)
Keeping with my beloved garden theme,
chose a beautiful, kind of unexpected,
FREE,
historical locale,
where I'd be just about guaranteed some desired privacy.
I chose a well cared for, historic, cemetery.
I know this may seem a little morbid to some
but it was such a beautiful, peaceful, place.
I'd like to mention that docents and volunteers help care for the cemetery-
grounds, stones and gardens,
which is VERY rarely used for its intended purpose.
We used this large seed packet I made, as the main way of revealing the gender.
Inside had the blossoms or buds I made.
*THIS is WHEN we finally told sis.
She too had been requesting the info. for a while,
even trying to get it early since she was taking our photos.
She justified it by saying she ALREADY knew the gender just needed confirmation.
lol
She'd been right the whole time,
but I wanted to make it memorable for her as well for a few reasons:
1. She'd been waiting/requesting more nephew's or nieces for a long time
2.Wasn't able to be at the 1st luncheon where we revealed we were expecting
( no matter how hard we tried to get her to come without giving it away)
3. It wasn't certain who'd be taking our photos, MS or sis.
We stated we'd share early with only that person IF they were the ones.
4. Because sis got this one priveledge over everyone else,
and so desperately wanted confirmation on her hunches,
made her wait until this very.last.second.
lol
And then revealed!
I made this as well.
This is what we ultimately compiled and shared with family and friends,
as soon as my immediate family came over for a special luncheon,
where we would reveal the gender.
Everyone else was kind of on pins and needles because we had
stated by 3pm on Saturday the 28th, we'd notify them.
We literally had a deadline.
And they kept us to it.
I was getting texts throughout the morning reminding me, in excitement,
how many hours till the news would break lol
THEN, when it didn't hit the "airwaves" aka FB (private acct)
at exactly 3pm, I was getting texts to hurry up.
It was an eventful day!

And HOW exactly did we share with the kids?
We swapped out the pink flower for the baby boy sandals we purchased
for the initial pregnancy reveal,
and then said, "Smile, we're having BOY!"
And we had all 3 of them PROMISE, PROMISE AND PROMISE NOT
to reveal the info until we disclosed it first.
They kept their word :)

"Seed packet"/envelope I made
because I couldn't find one locally or affordable.
I made a bunch of blue buds for the envelope |
IT'S A BOY!
This is technically a blossom but for a flower this size,
a bud shape wouldn't have worked as well.
Hubby thought it funny to jiggle my belly.......
So sis suggested we swap places,
I gave him a bit of his own medicine hahaha

It was an eventful day!
It's all been pretty surreal,
finally sharing the gender and name with all our family and friends.
I still find it strange to say his name out loud
or even to dare shop for him.
Maybe because I feel like I'm still dreaming this is actually happening.
I am in continual amazement at what the Lord has done for us
and am blessed beyond measure.
I am loving being pregnant.
It's had its undesirable moments but for the most part, been pretty nice.
We are at a time in our lives where maturity is more present,
the peace of the Lord rests with us,
I am not having to "work",
although I still have weekly commitments, it isn't work to me,
his provision is evident,
I am enjoying the milestones of this pregnancy greatly
and definitely doing it better than my other 3.
Oh and the shopping thing, I'm going to snap myself out of that REAL soon,
he's going to need clothes hahaha.
And HOW exactly did we share with the kids?
We swapped out the pink flower for the baby boy sandals we purchased

You look absolutely gorgeous! You and your family are beautiful as well. I love how you did the reveal with the flower seed packet. The lettering is so lovely as well. Best wishes and blessings to you and your family! :)
