RETRO-FIT #3 TAB SLEEVE BLOUSE & Vday fun
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2013
Today has been BUUUSY.
Dyed my ever graying hair,
darn you color resistant strands, err.
Worked at the school
(my Mondays got switched to Fridays)
Got some reimbursements,
went to bank,
party supply store
hurriedly wrote out some invites,
rushed to pick up kids from school,
passed out invites to my baby girl's party,
grabbed some Jamba Juice for all of us (sweet "duty"),
Oh and we're going out of town for a short stay
which includes packing.
Enough of my Friday,
I hope you have a great weekend!
Here's what Vday looked like and my VDAY REDO
VALENTINE'S DAY!
My shoe print.
I did this years ago for hubby,
way before the kiddos were born.
Final destination!
:)

I loved the print, the colors & the neckline.
I DIDN'T like the wing/butterfly sleeves,
which were also slit a huge amount.
L. I pinned the sleeves from the outside so I could sew together
and keep the original stitching visible.
T.R. I then turned inside out and took in 3 inches from the sleeve,
tapering as I got closer the pit area and through the blouse a bit.
Then I cut across the hem of the sleeve, the excess material from
the length of the sleeve and sewed edges.
The blouse had a belt and belt loops which I removed
while working on the side of the blouse.
B.R. I then created a hem for the new sleeve.
This is belt the blouse came with.
L. I didn't want it to go unused so I cut it up to use on the blouse.
R. I have a blouse with rolled up sleeves like this, aka Tab Sleeves.
and wanted to recreate it.
So I cut the belt in 2 different lengths to make straps and sewed the edges.
The shorter length would go on top of the sleeve
while the longer would be on the inside.
L. Before soewing the material onto the sleeves
I made button holes.
R. I then matched up the straps, pinned and sewed(sleeve in between them).
New straps
AFTER
I wore with my grey jeans and black boots also thrifted.
I also used some of the belt to add a bow in the front
and switched out the buttons to match the sleeves.
New sleeve
