BELT FIX & ADDING SOME EXTRA HOLES

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2013

I'm feeling a little run down.
So much that I don't have the energy to post my real redo's hahaha.

So here's a quick one.

I had 2 belts, 1 thrifted months ago which had gotten slightly ruined
and a second which I recently got at the flea market, but too big.

I purposely got a larger size as I'd like to keep using it during the pregnancy.

here

quick belt fix, belt fix,
This first belt, obviously cheap, cracked.
I don't care that it's cheap, the price was great.

But rather than toss it, at least until I can find a better replacement,
this is what I did to fix it.
T.R. I used GORILLA GLUE (a glue gun would work) underneath the lifted area.
B.R. I let that dry for a few minutes and then applied fingernail polish right over
to seal a little more AND to touch up any areas where the pink was missing.

It's not a great fix but definitely an easy, cheap & temporary one.

DIY belt holes
My second belt didn't have enough holes where I needed them.
This one my hubby showed me a while back.
Take something pointy & round like a turkey fork or an ice pick.
A letter open works as well but typically for smaller holes.
I've used the letter open on my sandals to give me some extra holes.
HEAT for about 30 seconds

Easy belt fix, DIY belt holes, belt fix
I've done it 2 ways so you can see the difference.

T.L.After heating the fork I speared through the back.
T.R. Then I reheated and did a 2nd hole, this time on the front side.
B.L. You can see the difference in holes.
The left is much cleaner looking BUT as you can see in the next photo
B.R. The right hole which got speared from the front side is much cleaner looking than the one done from the back.

So my suggestion is, spear from the front as no one will be seeing the back.

That's it!

  3. That's a great idea! I wish I had read this post last week, I used a hammer and a nail to add extra holes to a belt I thrifted, but the way you showed it looks much better.
